One year with Oculus Rift

Yesterday the consumer version of Oculus Rift has been finally released and now the first consumer virtual reality headset is available for pre-order. The Rift, developed by Oculus VR (a company acquired in 2014 by Facebook) has brought immersive virtual reality back to the attention of the public after the progressive lost of importance and interest from both consumers and companies mainly in the last decade. New website, new logo, new projects, new life!

It’s an important moment in my professional life. I started this adventure in Design more than 20 years ago and now I’m living a magic moment. These last 8 years as a freelance has been a crescendo of satisfactions and I’m glad I had the possibility of learning so much and work with so many nice people. On top of this I just turned 40 !. My personal Maker-Space

Part of my studio is now dedicated to 3D printing. Here’s a shot of the current situation! The laptop on the right is the one that I actually use for controlling the 3D printer while the laptop on the left was momentaryly placed in order to take advantage of the front camera and being able to record a very long footage. On the left black panel you can see the amount of tools that I used to build the printer and that I still use it to maintain it and fix it when it brakes.

What a Spaceship!

What a Spaceship!  Designed by Marcello Gandini while working at Bertone, the Lamborghini Cuntach still remains one of my favourite sport cars ever. It looked like a spaceship on wheels when it came out and still does. The name “Countach” is an expression  in Piedmont’s dialect that stands for” OH MY GOD! “. The first prototype was assembled in a farm outside Turin because of a worker’s strike in the Bertone factory. “Countach!” is apparently the word that was pronounced by a farmer seeing the car body for the first time and before the wheels were assembled.
